Some of the parts installed on my TDI

I picked up my 2001 2 door golf TDI about 3 months ago. I really like the look of the 2 door. The car is FAR better looking then any other "hybrid" on the road (Prius, civic, volt)

Right out of the gate I was getting 48-50 MPG stock..

I went ahead and installed full set of gauges: boost / oil psi / oil temp / volts (and the sony deck with aux/usb)

Next up was the performance goodies..   Race pipe from http://www.dieselgeek.com/ & new nozzles from http://www.idparts.com/ bosio 520 sprinters.

This made a good improvement , but not where I was looking to be..  So I called up Mark Malone @ Malone Tuning in Canada. http://www.malonetuning.com/  I went with a stage 3 semi custom tune. (remove EGR & IMMO)

This is the spec from malone:

Now this TDI moves !  Stock the TDI has about 90 HP. With the work I have done, I now have about 150 HP.. I know that does not sound like much, but the TQ now @ 250 FT.. This car is like a rubber band. Very similar to a 450 4 stroke motocross bike. With the short wheel base, and light weight (under 2900 pounds) chassis. It makes this car fun.  I have owned alot of FAST cars ( Mustangs , built my own factory five cobra )..  This car does rank in the top 5. The real cool factor, its still getting 46 MPG!!

Mods down the road. VNT 17 turbo, VR6 clutch setup, full straight pipe exhaust.. maybe a 6 speed tranny. This car is the ultimate commuter car !
